    Description of Ferrosilicon

    Ferrosilicon (FeSi) is smelted continuously in an open or semi-closed reduction furnace using semi-coke, silica, steel scrap and other products as raw materials. The appearance of FeSi is silver-gray, with metallic luster, and can be processed into ferrosilicon alloy powder, ferrosilicon block and FeSi granule according to customer requirements. Ferrosilicon is mainly used as deoxidizer and alloying agent for steelmaking, inoculant and nodularizer for cast iron, and it is also widely used in magnesium metal and chemical industry.

    Application of Ferrosilicon

    (1) Deoxidizer: Ferrosilicon alloy is used as precipitation deoxidizer and diffusion deoxidizer in the steelmaking process, which can ensure the quality of steel.


    (2) Alloying agent: Adding FeSi to steelmaking can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel.


    (3) Inoculants and nodulizers: Ferrosilicon alloy can be used as inoculants and nodulizers in the cast iron industry. FeSi can prevent iron from forming carbides while promoting the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite.


    (4) Reducing agent: High-silicon ferrosilicon has extremely low carbon content, and FeSi is a reducing agent for producing low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.


    (5) Magnesium smelting: 75# ferrosilicon alloy is often used in the high temperature smelting process of metal magnesium.
